As architect Antoni Gaudí once said, “Straight lines belong to humans; curves belong to God.” This study journey was not only a pilgrimage into art, but also a deep practice of M77’s philosophy of Aesthetic Woodwork. It aimed to bring South Africa’s design philosophy and artistic nourishment into the spirit of China’s high-end whole-home bespoke living.
Greg Truen’s private residence reveals itself through traditional stone walls, while at night, the softly glowing inverted pyramid roof becomes a striking presence. Philip Olmesdahl’s residence is set on a steep site, where split-level spatial planning turns Table Mountain and the city skyline into the backdrop of daily life.
Working with clay as their medium, Andile Dyalvane and Zizipho Poswa bring African traditional culture together with contemporary artistic language. Their works have been collected by leading institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art. As the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world, Zeitz MOCAA presents contemporary works from Africa and its diaspora, offering a powerful view into the vitality of African art today.
The Master Designer Hub journey through South African luxury residences and art was an artistic dialogue across mountains and seas. Looking ahead, M77 Aesthetic Woodwork will continue to take design as its brush and culture as its ink, creating new chapters across the expansive canvas of the woodwork industry—where tradition and modernity, luxury and nature come together. Through this journey, M77 will continue to bring lasting inspiration and renewed vitality to the field of high-end whole-home bespoke living in China.
